Major spoilers for “Cold War” (Doctor Who)

So I only JUST watched the episode so I may be really late to the party here - but did anyone catch that intense Rose Tyler/ Bad Wolf reference in the new Doctor Who episode?

Earlier on in the episode the Russian professor guy was telling Clara about how when he’s nervous or scared he sings Duran Duran (because he really likes western 80s rock).

And so when we didn’t know whether or not Scaldak (Skaldack? Scaldack? idk) was going to blow up the ship, Clara kind of softly sings “Lost and I’m found…and I’m…hungry like the wolf…” and then all of the switches turn off, and everyone is saved.

I about shit my pants. Like because we KNOW that Rose is coming back for the 50th. I’m really hoping stuff like this happens a lot so we have like…an old Russel T. Davies style mindfuck with all of those subtle hints that add up to something INCREDIBLE.

And then at the end when the Doctor and Clara both said “Brilliant!” which I can only assume is a 10th Doctor reference.

oh man. So great.

Is anyone else seeing a parallel in Clara and Amy’s episodes?

Like, episode one in the TARDIS - The Doctor takes the companion somewhere unbelievably far away in time and space, usually the future, to show them the real power of the TARDIS. He just wants to show her something extraordinary, but things go wrong fast - oh and there’s a little girl involved. The companion is left alone with the little girl and gets her to come out of her shell by bonding with her, giving her a personal investment on whether or not things get worked out. A very very old creature that the people of this place depend on is killed in some fashion or another.

Episode 2 in the TARDIS - The Doctor takes the companion to the past - a war that she might have learned about in school. But something is HORRIBLY OUT OF PLACE. There is an alien presence that The Doctor needs to stop.

Eh. Just something I’ve noticed. Not saying it’s necessarily bad. But just a thing.

Okay so I saw Matt Smith AND Billie Piper tonight at the play I saw and I brushed Matt’s arm and I took video which I can put up later but OMG YOU GUYS
